Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Afromart collects, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our marketplace. It applies to the Afromart website and web app.
Information we collect
Account information: when you create an account we store your name, email address and, for sellers, the business details you provide (business name, type, location and description). We use your email address to sign you in and to send verification codes and order notifications.
Marketplace content: product and service listings, images you upload, messages you exchange with other users, orders, reviews and dispute records.
Payment information: card payments are processed by our payment provider. Afromart does not store your full card number. For bank transfers, sellers receive account details you choose to share and buyers report the transfers they make.
Verification documents: sellers who request verification upload identity or business credentials. These are reviewed privately by the Afromart team and are not shown on your public profile.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate the marketplace: creating and securing your account, showing your listings and orders, enabling chat between buyers and sellers, processing payments and payouts, verifying sellers, resolving disputes and providing customer support.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Storage and security
Your data is stored on secured infrastructure with access controls. Verification documents and payment details are handled with additional safeguards and are only visible to the people who need them to run the marketplace.
Your choices
You can update your profile and store information at any time from your account settings. You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting our support team. Some records, such as completed orders and payment records, may be retained where required for legal or accounting purposes.
We may send you service notifications such as order updates and account messages. These are part of using the marketplace and cannot be switched off while your account is active.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the marketplace grows. When we make significant changes we will announce them in the app. Continuing to use Afromart after a change means you accept the updated policy.
